I graduated from New York University’s Stern School of Business in 2000 and since then I’ve worked in Retail Corporate Finance helping companies come up with annual budgets and analyze actual performance. In that time, I’ve worked for Ralph Lauren, Lord & Taylor, New York & Company and The Vitamin Shoppe.
My focus is on Financial Planning & Analysis or “FP&A” for short. It’s an area of finance that’s essential for businesses, but is lesser known then its sibling “Accounting.” FP&A professionals focus on creating annual budgets, forecasting, and analysis of monthly performance against what was expected. This discipline helps business owners understand what to expect, highlights when financial activity has deviated from those expectations, and recommendations to get back on track. ATLT Consulting is breaking new ground by bringing this critical financial discipline to small businesses and entrepreneurs.
In my experience, most small businesses have an accountant and maybe a bookkeeper, which are both critical. I consider my role to be the third leg of that stool: I translate what the accountant and bookkeeper report into a clear, concise monthly report that we will work on together to help you understand exactly where the business stands, what’s driving revenue, what’s driving spending and how we can course correct whenever necessary.
And the really fun part is when we get to collaborate on how the company can focus on growth.
Enough about me professionally. On the personal side, I married my beautiful wife Tovi in 2006 and we have two amazing children, Lyla and Troy. Our time is spent being active as a family, enjoying sports and cooking together when we can.
In both my professional and personal life, I have a philosophy that I try to live by: Love what you do and love who you do it with. It’s worked out so far!
